Summary:
Markus Mannström, head of Stora Enso's division Biomaterials, is interviewed by Forum Magasin. According to him, the forest industry has gone through notable structural changes in the past 10 to 15 years. He continues that the industry is partially about existing products like cardboard and pulp but beside them, there are new bio-based materials and chemicals on their way. Mr Mannström tells that they are working on changing the image of a decreasing industry and want to show to be a future industry instead. He believes it is possible that all fossil materials could be replaced with wood in the future. Mr Mannström adds that cellulose fibre has unique features and as it consists of sugar, it can generate raw materials to chemicals.
