Wet winter changes logging plans
Kauppalehti writes that the spring weather normally causes extra costs of about 70 million EUR to the forest industry. This year these costs will be significantly higher due to the exceptionally wet autumn and warm winter. Stora Enso's forest director Janne Partanen says that not all normal winter stands will be accessible this winter and the company must choose logging locations carefully. The wettest swamp locations will not be thinned this year.
