madera cerca 2Uruguay exports pulp

Forestry exports from Uruguay are expected to grow 10% as compared to 2015 according to official data from the ministry of Agriculture. The expected export value exceeds 1.700 M USD and cellulose is expected to take up the largest part of this. The price of cellulose shows an upward trend and is currently close to 480 USD per ton. The installation of a third pulp mill is considered to be possible by authorities and timberland producers. Current production is 10 M sq meters of wood destined for cellulose. 8 M sq meters are being used by the current two pulp mills. This means there is an overproduction. Anyhow, for a third pulp mill it would be necessary to either import raw material or increase the amount of planted eucalyptus trees.
