Finland: UPM planning to produce renewable diesel and kerosene in Kotka (Kymen Sanomat)
Finnish forest industry company UPM has submitted an environmental impact assessment to the Southeast Finland Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for the biorefinery the company is planning to build in Kotka in Finland. The refinery is expected to produce high-quality biofuels for road transport, shipping, and aviation. The main product will be renewable diesel. In addition, the biorefinery will produce kerosene. Bioethanol production is not included in UPM's plans. As raw materials, the company is planning to use forest chips, plants of the Brassica rapa subspecies, and waste.
